Real-Time Configurator Services

Our end-to-end process is simple and robust

– We build high-fidelity CG models from your assets (CAD, STEP, existing models, or other formats). – We create real-time interactions and animations using a game engine or lightweight WebGL. – We integrate live data, graphics, and guided presentation tools—think custom Zoom within your configurator. Host once, reach the world. Replace or supercharge physical showrooms, deliver personal guided demos remotely, and add a powerful, always-on sales channel that’s accessible on any modern browser. Here’s our end‑to‑end process for building your real-time 3D configurator, from asset intake to launch and support.

1. Discovery and scoping

– Define goals: sales, training, marketing, support.
– Map audiences, devices, performance targets, and KPIs.
– Confirm product variants, options, constraints, and data sources.
– Deliverables: SOW, timeline, feature list, success metrics.

2. Asset intake and audit

– Accept CAD/STEP/IGES, existing 3D, drawings, photos, BOMs.
– Assess completeness, topology, material references, scale.
– Identify gaps and propose substitutions or scans if needed.

3. 3D modelling and optimization

– Convert/Clean CAD → polygonal meshes; retopology as needed.
– Create PBR materials and textures; bake normals/AO.
– Build LODs, instancing, and texture atlases for performance.
– Output: game‑ready assets, naming conventions, version control.

4. Configuration architecture

– Map product options, rules, dependencies, pricing hooks.
– Create a configuration graph/logic matrix (compatibility rules).
– Define data schema for variants, SKUs, and future expansion.

5. UX/UI and experience design

– Wireframes for desktop/mobile; focus on clarity and speed.
– Interaction model: orbit/pan/zoom, hotspots, exploded views, AR hooks.
– UI for options, tooltips, measurements, compare, save/share.

6. Engine and tech stack selection

– Choose Unity/Unreal for high fidelity, or WebGL/WebGPU (Three.js/Babylon) for ultra‑light web delivery.
– Consider hybrid: server‑rendered streams for ultra‑complex scenes, or progressive loading on web.
– Decide on hosting, CDN, and analytics tools.

7. Interaction, animation, and logic

– Build states: open/close, swap components, color/finish changes.
– Add procedural behaviors, constraints, and collision checks.
– Author cinematic and guided tours; camera bookmarks and paths.

8. Real‑time data and integrations

Pull live specs, pricing, stock, or telemetry via APIs.
– CPQ/CRM/e‑commerce integration (quotes, carts, lead capture).
– WebRTC for guided sessions, co‑viewing, and presenter controls.

9. Performance tuning

– Mesh decimation, occlusion culling, baked lighting/probes.
– Texture compression (KTX2/Basis), Draco mesh compression.
– Lazy/progressive loading; device‑specific quality presets.

10. Cross‑device QA

– Test on Chrome, Safari, Edge; Windows/macOS/iOS/Android.
– Validate touch, mouse, gamepad; accessibility checks.
– Offline/low‑bandwidth fallbacks and graceful degradation.

11. Security and privacy

– HTTPS, tokenized APIs, role‑based access.
– Optional login, watermarking, link expiry.
– Analytics GDPR/CCPA compliance; anonymized event tracking.

12. Hosting and deployment

– Configure cloud hosting/CDN; global edge caching.
– Continuous delivery pipeline and monitoring.
– Versioning for models, logic, and UI.

13. Analytics and insights

– Track option selections, dwell time, drop‑offs, heatmaps.
– Export leads to CRM; A/B test flows and UI.
– Insight dashboards to inform product and sales decisions.

14. Launch, training, and documentation

– Run pilot with stakeholders, collect feedback, iterate.
– Provide admin console and content update guidelines.
– Train sales/CS teams; deliver style guides and SDK notes.

15. Ongoing support and updates

– SLA for fixes and browser updates.
– Add new variants/finishes, seasonal campaigns, and locales.
– Performance audits and feature roadmaps.

12. Hosting and deployment

– Configure cloud hosting/CDN; global edge caching.
– Continuous delivery pipeline and monitoring.
– Versioning for models, logic, and UI.

Typical timeline and collaboration

– Week 1–2: Discovery, asset audit, UX wireframes. – Week 3–6: Modeling, optimization, configuration logic. – Week 5–8: Interaction, data integration, first playable build. – Week 7–9: QA, performance tuning, analytics, security. – Week 9–10: Launch, training, and handover. – Review gates at concept, alpha, beta, and release.

Client inputs we’ll need

– CAD/STEP files, finishes library, product rules matrix. – Brand guidelines, UI requirements, legal/compliance notes. – Access to APIs for pricing/stock/telemetry and CRM/CPQ.

Deliverables you can expect

– Web link to the configurator (no downloads), plus optional embed. – Admin tools for content updates and guided sessions. – Documentation, analytics dashboard, and integration endpoints.

Outcome

A fast, beautiful, browser‑based 3D experience that scales globally, captures meaningful user data, and shortens the path from exploration to purchase—while reducing reliance on physical showrooms.

Case Study

Automotive Real-Time Configurator

We built this cloud hosted real-time interactive 3d experience for a high-profile engineering company that works within the automotive industry. This project demo enabled them to deploy a cloud hosted real-time interactive 3d version of one of their high-ticket products which included a virtual configurator and a live pricing function which could be directly integrated into the client’s proprietary internal sales content management system.

Transforming Automotive Experiences: Customize in Real-Time and Navigate Your Journey with Interactive 3D Precision!

The clients were given the ability to explore the product directly from their web browser and customise the 3d configurator, live inside the interface which performed a live cost update according to their selections all in interactive 3d and with a 360 view. Additionally, because the models were built as a modular system, we made it easy to update the model when the client’s product lines were improved or changed. Furthermore, this real-time experience was also designed to allow the end client to explore the models of specific products after they had purchased it and provided support for technical issues via an innovative real-time 3d interactive instruction manual. As a result, this helped to negate the need for the company having to deploy engineers to the installation to fix simple issues, which was previously necessary when the end client only had a standard printed manual.
