For this project we were asked by our partners at Agency Inc to produce a range of animations for their client Hitachi Energy a global leader in power grid solutions (a network that delivers power from generation to where it is consumed & used).
The aim of the campaign was positioning Hitachi Energy as a partner to help customers (power, utilities, transportation & industry) with implementing digital solutions that would help them to better manage reliable power.
The brief was to create 4 Digital Solutions Animations and 4 Key Visuals based on 4 scenarios; transport, utilities, renewables and mining.
The assets would need to be created in 3D so that they could be utilised in both the images and the animations.
Each visual will show a mid-transition state – where an engineer witnesses a ground-up transformation of key assets. This would comprise the lower half of the image being a blue-print/x-ray effect and the upper half being a full render of the asset.
The images and animations had to be produced so they could be used in a variety of sizes and formats including landscape, portrait, square and 16:9
For the 3D animations the main assets needed to be broken down into various elements so that they could be individually animated into the scene. They would then be arranged across the timeline so they systematically animated to form the x-ray effect of the main asset which would then be blended with the full render in after effects. We also needed to rig some of the assets so they could have motion in the digital solutions animation.
Finally some animation was added to some of the environments such as the sea in the renewables animations. The animations were then rendered out.
This project shows the flexibility of using CGI for creating 3D animations for your marketing campaigns or product launches, however there are a massive range of other mediums that the 3D assets can be used for.
We have created complete digital toolkits for clients that can be used across broadcast, social and print media. And there is also the opportunity to incorporate them into interactive presentations such as 360 viewers or configurators or immersive applications such as augmented reality or virtual reality.
